In
just one decade, technology has changed the way
we live more than ever before. It has changed
the way we conduct business, travel, make purchases,
bank, communicate, acquire information, and even
play games. Every child in every classroom, every
teacher in every school, and every person in
every community is affected every day by technology.
Research concludes that student achievement is positively
affected through learning experiences that are engaging,
challenging, and authentic. Technology enables students
to gain literacy skills beyond the basics. Digital
age literacy involves analysis, synthesis and evaluation
of information, and the expression of ideas in compelling
ways that will prepare students for the demands of
the 21st century.
Success
in educating the current generation of Millenials,
America’s leaders of tomorrow, rests on critical
decisions we make today. These decisions need to
envision a path to 21st
Century teaching and learning
that addresses the needs and challenges of today’s
students. Education Service Center, Region 20 supports
the educational community in this endeavor.
